With Lukas Ullrich, another left-back moves from the federal capital to the Lower Rhine. Borussia Mönchengladbach announces the signing of the 19-year-old top talent for the summer. After the end of his contract with Hertha BSC, the teenager will switch to the Foals on a free transfer and will sign until 2027.
“Lukas is a promising talent”according to sports director Roland Virkus, “He has made a great development so far, at Hertha, but also in the U19 national team, of which he is the captain. He’s an exciting player and we’re delighted he’s decided to join us.”
Ullrich himself adds: “Borussia is a big club. I’m happy to be here, to learn from the experienced players and then to attack.”
The Berliners would have liked to keep their defensive talent long-term, but the talks started under ex-sports manager Fredi Bobic did not lead to any result. Bitter for Hertha: Luca Netz, who was almost a year older, was lost to Borussia. In the future, two Hertha natives will be fighting over the successor to the outgoing Ramy Bensebaini (28), who is moving to Borussia Dortmund.
