Five new models over 40 joined “Germany’s Next Top Model”. And they first had to prove that they could keep up with the young competition.
Last year, ProSieben relied on an innovation for the 17th season of “Germany’s Next Top Model”: For the first time in the history of the show, the age limit fell. There were also more mature women among the participants, the oldest being 68 years old. Martina even made it to the final at the age of 50 and came third.
When this year’s candidates were presented, however, there was no trace of the so-called best-ager models. However, the concept was not changed again, the older competition only joined later, as was revealed in the episode on Thursday. Five new models were presented, all over 40. With Charlene, Ina, Marielena, Nicole and Zuzel, however, the top 10 was a long way off again.
Heidi Klum’s former model colleague was there
This was not only met with enthusiasm by Heidi Klum’s girls. “I think that’s super unfair to us. We’ve already achieved performance that hasn’t yet,” cried 19-year-old Anya. But it wasn’t easy for the followers to get started: they had to master tasks that the other models had also completed in the last few episodes – including a topless shoot and a sexy walk in underwear.
Nicole, who is a former model colleague of Heidi Klum and who even lived with the GNTM boss in a flat share in Milan at the beginning of her career, was particularly convincing. “I’m often asked, ‘Was she like that back then?’ And then I say: ‘Yes, she was. She was very funny and lively even then,'” she said about their past together.
Zuzel and Charlene, however, could not score. They had to head straight back home while the other latecomers were allowed to move into the villa. The younger candidates also had to prove their modeling talent again on the catwalk. In the end, Leona did not get a photo of Heidi Klum and was sent home by her and guest juror Coco Rocha.
