Washington. US senators announced Wednesday a bipartisan plan to combat China’s growing influence in the world, which must be supported by laws to limit investment and technology that the Asian giant receives and deter any threat against Taiwan.

Along with 11 other representatives, the head of the Senate’s Democratic majority, Chuck Schumer, outlined a five-point plan to deal with Chinese competition, after its economy grew more than 10 times since the turn of the century.

He said export curbs and sanctions will be examined to restrict Beijing’s ability to acquire “and even steal” American innovations in artificial intelligence and other technological developments.

As well as supporting small US businesses and reinforcing the process of evaluating the implications for national security of foreign investments in the US.
