A NVIDIA presented its new technology “Omniverse Avatar Cloud Engine for Games” to improve NPC performance in games. In other words, it is a novelty that promises to revolutionize the performance of this type of character, since it will no longer depend on talking and pre-written interactions.

According to the company, this type of feature goes beyond the dialogs we currently see, operating in a way that communicates with players in real time. In other words, it is a broader model of language that has been adapted to provide greater interaction in the titles, according to Jensen Huang, CEO of the manufacturer.

A “ACE for Games” It basically combines natural language understanding, text-to-speech and facial animations so that this interaction happens in real time, as if they can actually hear. However, it is still not very clear how this technology will work in detail.

In that sense, NVIDIA still needs to explain what it will take for ACE for Games to be implemented in games. Still, it is an interesting step taken by the company, as its rival AMD is also working on ways to improve the performance of NPCs.

This is another one of the results obtained by the company with its works that use artificial intelligence. Another example of this is DLSS itself, which uses AI to upscale games to a higher resolution.
