OJA Feldkirch clears ideas competition.

On Wednesday, January 11th, the winners of the “Velokultur Rheintal 2022” ideas competition were honored by the state of Vorarlberg and the Rheintal Agglomeration Association. The project of the open youth work in Feldkirch was able to assert itself against 16 other project ideas and received funding of 2,000 euros.
A total of 22 project ideas were submitted to the Velokultur Ideas Competition 2022. Individuals who are enthusiastic about cycling, people involved in culture, youth organizations and clubs, but also municipalities and museums submitted entries. Every single idea contributes to raising public awareness of the bicycle as one of the most environmentally friendly means of transport.
The project, which can now be implemented with the help of the funding, provides for the purchase of a new bicycle of the “Radkutsche” type. This bike is to be converted and adapted together with the young people so that it can be used for a wide variety of purposes, such as a mobile kitchen, a transport vehicle or a bar. Depending on requirements, the wheel is adapted for the respective purpose, since the modules are designed to be interchangeable. In order to reach as many young people as possible, the production of the individual bicycle modules is advertised in schools.
The project idea aims to get young people excited about cycling. You will gain technical skills in repairing bicycles by working on the project. The participating young people should also be made aware of climate-friendly and health-promoting mobility.
An expert jury – consisting of members of the Rheintal Agglomeration Association, the sponsors of the “Velotal Rheintal” initiative and representatives of the communities in the Vorarlberg and St. Gallen Rhine Valley – selected the winning projects.
Promote cycling culture in the Rhine Valley
The Rheintal Agglomeration Program association, which is formed by Swiss and Vorarlberg municipalities as well as the canton of St. Gallen and the state of Vorarlberg, has set itself the goal of promoting cycling culture in the Rhine Valley and allowing it to continue to grow. The ideas competition aims to support creative ideas and valuable initiatives as a supplement to ongoing infrastructure projects.
