This manga, a reference to the shonen genre and Japanese art, began to be published in the Japanese magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump on July 22, 1997 and to date 103 volumes have been published. It came to the anime format thanks to Toei Animation, the company behind Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, Mazinger Z, Slam Dunk, Knights of the Zodiac, among others.
As One Piece fans well remember, the story centers on Monkey D. Luffy, a young man who aspires to become the King of the Pirates by acquiring the titular treasure, One Piece.
On his quest, Monkey recruits a small crew known as the Straw Hat Pirates, and together they set sail on a ship called the Going Merry while taking on other nefarious pirates in the East Blue. One of the villains is precisely Rob Lucci, known as killing machine.
This antagonist is the most powerful member of CP9, a secret faction of the Cipher Pol. In addition, he is known for eating the Neko Neko no Mi, a fruit that allows him to transform into a leopard and a hybrid form between the feline and the human.
Rob Lucci’s version with artificial intelligence
According to a report published on the website of SensaCinema, Eiichiro Oda asked an artificial intelligence to make his own version of Rob Lucci.
The video uploaded to the anime’s Youtube channel shows Oda drawing Lucci and then running it through the AI. We see how the mangaka confronts Luffy with this version of the villain and then reveals a female variant of Killing Machine.
