Samsung has given a preview of the next generation of its user interface for smartwatches for the first time. With the Samsung One UI 5 Watch they want to introduce a number of innovations – starting with the Galaxy Watch 6 series.

As Samsung announced in a press release today, the main focus is on introducing new health-related features, with the company placing an emphasis on sleep quality. Among other things, the new Sleep Insights UI aims to provide a clearly visible evaluation of the quality of sleep, which is based on a number of factors, including the frequency of snoring and the oxygen saturation of the blood.

Lots of new health features with a focus on sleep quality

The user should be able to easily recognize why he still feels tired immediately after waking up. In addition, one should be able to create a kind of note when one has had a particularly restful sleep, in order to reproduce the appropriate circumstances. In addition, Samsung introduces the sleep training functions directly on the watch to make the habits more traceable.

In addition to the sleep-related features, Samsung plans to introduce a new tool for runners called Personalized Heart Rate Zone. It analyzes the user’s ability and calculates five optimal levels of exercise intensity, taking into account the statistics recorded so far. The user can set his own goals and achieve new personal bests.

If you like being outdoors or in nature and own a Galaxy Watch Pro, you get a function with the improved route workout function that supports running and walking and not just hiking and cycling. With the new One UI 5 Watch, Samsung also wants to revise the SOS feature so that in an emergency you can connect directly to an emergency number to transmit your location.

If emergency mode is activated, first responders will also be able to have direct access to the wearer’s health data via Samsung smartwatches. If the user of the watch is 55 or older, fall detection will also be activated in the future. The launch of the new One UI 5 Watch will coincide with the market launch of the new Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 series, which is to be presented later in the year.

However, a beta program is to begin as early as May, giving users of a Galaxy Watch 4 or Galaxy Watch 5 access to pre-release versions of the new smartwatch interface. You have to register via the Samsung Members App.
