On December 30, China’s first “Commercial Astronaut Training Program” was released at the “Commercial Astronaut Level Evaluation and Training Specification” conference hosted by the China Exploration Association and undertaken by the China Exploration Association Deep Space Branch. At the meeting, the Deep Space Branch of the China Expeditionary Association, together with the first batch of Chinese astronauts, academicians of the International Academy of Astronautics, space probe designers, manned space engineering experts and other guests, talked about the growth path of commercial astronauts.
The group standard of “Commercial Astronaut Grade Evaluation and Training Specifications” released this time was proposed by the Deep Space Branch of the China Exploration Association under the guidance of the China Exploration Association. Based on the results of commercial astronaut training, it was jointly drafted and formulated in conjunction with commercial aerospace companies, astronaut instructors and other industry professionals. In order to make the formulation of the standard more scientific and reasonable, scientific research, use, management units and professional technical personnel related to this standard are specially invited to participate. It aims to promote the development of space life science through aerospace technology, organize and train commercial astronauts, improve the popularization of space knowledge among the public, strengthen the publicity of deep space exploration, and promote the healthy development of my country’s deep space exploration and tourism industry. At present, the draft of the group standard of “Commercial Astronaut Level Evaluation and Training Specifications” is being publicized on the website of the National Group Standard Information Platform.

The training will add space-themed elements on the basis of the existing activities of the China Exploration Association, and comprehensively build the space adaptability and accomplishment that commercial astronauts should possess, so as to meet the needs of commercial astronauts with different roles to enter space. In the activities of commercial astronauts, different tasks have different requirements for quality and ability, and the content of training is also different accordingly. Therefore, they are divided into four types of roles: space experience officer, space mission expert, commercial spaceflight engineer, and commercial astronaut. Aerospace pilot. Commercial astronauts will master the basic knowledge of manned spaceflight during the training process, adapt to different degrees of overweight, weightlessness and space flight environments, and have the ability to rescue themselves and each other in an emergency.
The implementation of commercial astronaut training is inseparable from the support of infrastructure. The China Exploration Association signed on-site contracts with Qinghai Lenghu Mars Town and Shandong Haiyang Oriental Spaceport. Qinghai Lenghu Mars Town has the obvious advantage of simulating the Martian environment, and will become a training base for commercial astronauts. Shandong Haiyang Oriental Aerospace Port will serve as the home port of the commercial astronaut training program and vigorously carry out space tourist simulation experience projects. Tian Cairang, executive deputy director of the Qinghai Haixi Lenghu Science and Technology Innovation Industrial Park Management Committee, said that the Lenghu area relies on the natural advantages suitable for sounding rocket launch tests and the existing aerospace industry foundation to construct, layout rocket assembly, launch and Technology industries such as recovery tests, research and development of drones and aerostats, and equipment testing, as well as the space tourism industry are also advancing. The “Commercial Astronaut Training Program” released this time is highly compatible with the basic conditions and industrial development of the Lenghu Science and Technology Park.
