Orquesta La Gran Manzana mixes sounds in MerenVolution album

MIAMI.- The orchestra The Big Apple presents MerenVolutiona revolutionary album collaborative that marks a milestone in the evolution of merengue by mixing avant-garde elements with the rhythmic tradition of the genre.

The first theme that emerges from the album is Me cas, performed by Vakero Y La Tribu de Abrante; while the second single is called Come on dawn, by Dominican singer Fernando Villalona.

“Recognised for his profound impact on merengue and tropical music, Villalona’s illustrious career spans several decades and is notable for his timeless voice and pioneering contributions to the genre. His involvement in this project underscores the album’s dedication to both innovation like tradition,” the production highlighted in a statement.

“The concept of MerenVolution It was born from the orchestra’s initiative to empower and collaborate with new generations of alternative urban and tropical artists, seeking to reinterpret merengue with freshness and modernity. This musical experience unites generations and begins a new approach within the genre, fusing the rhythms of cumbia, dembow, salsa, champeta, kompa and traditional merengue,” added the team.

In this way, record production includes remakes modern songs of three original songs by the orchestra and four new songs. In addition, it has 10 collaborations with established artists and the participation of producers and engineers who have worked with performers such as Marc Anthony, Ozuna, Don Omar and Eladio Carrion.

Featured collaborators include Fernando Villalona, ​​Shadow Blow, Jowell, Tony Succar, Christian Alicea, Rafa Pabn, Ricci Oriach, The Abrante Tribe, Cceres and Manny Cruz.

About the orchestra

La Gran Manzana, founded by Vctor Roque and Henry Hierro in 1982, is considered the most influential merengue orchestra in New York in the 80s and 90s. With a history that fuses traditional merengue with pop, rock, funk and disco, it has been home to talented musicians and they have produced more than 40 hits.
