comedian and entrepreneur Otto Ortiz he asked indignantly what was left of the abusive prices that were discussed in the last session of the National Assembly of People’s Power (ANPP), after exposing how the Cuban State is selling used cars that they no longer rent to tourism.

“The Peugeot 301, once removed from the rental, from driving all over Cuba for more than a year, are worth 47,000 dollars for whoever wants to buy it. I ask myself: What happened to the abusive and speculative prices that were discussed in the National Assembly of People’s Power?” Ortiz pointed out this Thursday in his profile of Facebook.

He also asked that “who is pricing those cars? I think that this is from CIMEX, I think it is from the State, I think there is a very big contradiction between what is said and what is done. I think it’s too bad to believe at this point.”

He also commented that the ANPP was “very nice” and “the debates were very entertaining”, but that “everything is clear: the important thing is to make money”.

In addition, he recalled that on this occasion he was not going to refer “to the commitment of ESEN, the Caudal Business Group and the Ministry of Finance and Prices, with the stupid ones who insured our cars and trusted them”, alluding to the years that He has been claiming from the aforementioned entities the substitution that corresponds to him for his insured car.

In the publication, the comedian also shares the retail prices of second-hand cars that range from $30,000 for a Toyota IQ to $47,000 for a Peugeot 301.

The photo also shows prices for a 2013 Suzuki Swift D-Zire at $43,000 and a 2010 Toyota Yaris valued at $45,000.

In the comments, a user noted that “the 2020 Toyota Yaris is the last year and it was discontinued. It is purchased for use under 19k. What a scam.”

Another Internet user pointed out that “with that money in Chile you buy three new cars.”

In other opinions they refer that it is necessary to take into account “that after 10 years of the year of the car, they stop producing spare parts” and that the price is “more than abusive” because they are cars that are more than walked.

The humorist’s complaint is not new, as in 2020 the reactions of Cubans were similar when the Cuban government published, for the first time, the list of cars for sale and their prices in Free Convertible Currency (MCL), some of which are being offered at four times their value in the international market.

Among the cheapest cars that Corporación Cimex.SA began to sell, in that year was the MG MT at USD 38,000, when, for example, in Chile the same car cost USD 9,953.

CyberCuba On that occasion, it prepared a comparative table with the brands of some of the cars offered and their prices in different countries, which showed the increase that CIMEX added to these vehicles.

For the preparation of the table, the websites of the official brands and dealers were used as sources, and said prices apply to models with standard equipment, that is, neither the cheapest nor the most expensive.

For example, a Peugeot 301 T/A in Colombia has a value of 17,210 USD, when in Cuba it cost 45,000 USD that year, which is equivalent to an increase of 261% of the initial price.

Another example that is alarming is that of the Renault Sandero, which in Spain was sold at USD 10,564 at that time, while in Cuba it cost USD 40,000, that is, its value increases by 379%.

The Toyota Land Cruiser was put up for sale on the Island for a price of USD 80,000, when in Spain it cost USD 38,875, which means an increase of 206%.
