Mexico City.- The leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, Ovidio Guzmán, arrested this morning in Culiacán, is already in Mexico City along with several of his accomplices, government sources said.

The operation was carried out in the vicinity of the Jesús María syndicate, on the outskirts of Culiacán, where a confrontation was reported in which the Army used aerial artillery.

The sources chose not to report Guzmán’s exact location, for security reasons.

However, it was indicated that he is in custody in Mexico City.

The operation was carried out by elite troops from the Army and the Air Force.

The tasks for this operation required at least 900 elements of the Army, National Guard and the Sinaloa Police, who report an undetermined number of drug blockades in different parts of Culiacán and other municipalities.

Among the soldiers participating in the skirmishes are airborne units of Special Forces, used in high-impact operations.

Until now, no reports of casualties or balances of this operation have been officially released.
