CDMX.- They say that they can put the presidential candidate for the 2024 elections, but the PAN members assure that if there is a better profile of society, that will be chosen.

Last week, in the reactivation of the Va por México alliance, it was announced, without the approval of the PRD, that the PRI would have a hand in defining the candidates for the governments of Coahuila and the State of Mexico and that the PAN would have it in the cases of the elections of Head of Government of Mexico City and President of the Republic.

“The agreement is that the one who will organize the process, accompanied by the alliance and civil society, will be the PAN, but we are going to go with the best profiles that the citizens want; that is very important,” clarified the general secretary of the PAN , Cecilia Patron.

“We are going to be open to society, not only to party members but to society, we will be open.”

“Which does not mean that you are going to put the candidate,” he was asked.

“It is correct. If we have the best candidate, surely we will put it, but if there is a better option, there will be freedom for it to be the candidate,” said Patrón.

“Historically in the PAN we have been open to society: this is how (Vicente) Fox, El Maquío, (Juan Carlos) Romero Hicks came to the PAN, being Rector of the University of Guanajuato, and later he was our Governor. In Yucatán we have Romel (Pacheco) who arrives as a citizen to a deputation. Historically, the PAN has opened the doors to the citizenry.”

And now with this agreement, added the leader, we will have to determine what is the process that will be carried out to choose the presidential candidate, where everyone has peace of mind and confidence.

“And which method could they lean toward?” he was asked.

“That would be the first step: agree among all. I think that the method will be defined in these days because we will have to listen to all parties, to all of society that wants to participate today,” he said.

The PAN members received the groups that are part of Unid@s last Friday, and the blue and white offered that the agreed conduct of the procedure to elect the 2024 presidential candidate will be open, transparent and with the accompaniment of society.

The national leader Marko Cortés received representatives of Unid@os at the party headquarters, who met with PRI and PRD leaders during the week.

After the agreement that made Va por México known, Unid@s demanded to take into account the opinion of the public in the selection of the Alliance candidate.
