The VII Summit of Heads of State and Government of Celac, which is taking place in Argentina, with the notable return of Brazil to the regional forum, upset the opposition and angered the macrismo.

Within this framework, the Macrista alliance of Together for Change launched various complaints against the presidents of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro; from Cuba, Miguel Díaz Canel; and from Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega (whom they described as “dictators”).

However, in 2016, former President Mauricio Macri sent his vice president, Gabriela Michetti, as a representative of the Argentine State to the Celac summit held in Ecuador, when its president was Rafael Correa.

Michetti, in said forum, was also in the “family” photo in which the now reviled Maduro, Ortega and the Cuban representatives were present.

Faced with these contradictions, former Foreign Minister Jorge Faurie tried to justify the presence of the PRO at that event: “Communication fashion indicates that you have to be left-wing and progressive.”

In dialogue with Juan Amorín, he said that their intention was “to show us open, that we are not intolerant.”

And he added: “The governments of the center and center right have to be permanently explaining why they are not A or B.”

“The communication fashion indicates that you have to be left-wing and progressive. And well, sometimes to survive politically a gesture is made and nothing changes”
