We were looking forward to this Wednesday, February 22. A date that has become key since the announcement of the opening of our 48-hour slot to purchase tickets in tailor-made packs to attend the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Like nearly three million people, registered on the official website , the email, revealing that we had indeed been drawn, was eagerly awaited. Our purchase window starting at 11 a.m., we connect to the platform at 11:08 a.m.

A small waiting period is to be observed – for us, four minutes – to finally see the tickets for the remaining sessions appear. Remaining because only one week after the opening of the ticket office, thirteen disciplines – fencing, climbing, breaking, BMX freestyle and racing, skateboarding, horse riding, track and road cycling, judo, artistic swimming, triathlon, and walking – are not already more accessible during this first purchasing phase.
And there, everyone has their own method. Some make their choices by price, by location, by discipline… We prefer to start with our dream selection.
A pack close to 1000 euros
We are therefore composing our ideal pack: two places for the rugby 7s (160 euros), two places for an athletics session (400 euros) including in particular the preliminary round and the first round of the women’s 100 m, the qualifications of the height and three decathlon events (100 m, long jump, shot put), as well as two places for boxing (300 euros) allowing to attend the 16th or 8th in women’s finals and quarter-finals in particular. In total, our basket costs us 872.90 euros. What slow us down for a few moments in our purchase.
Out of curiosity, we take a look at the sports where so-called “accessible” tickets are still available. For tickets ranging between 24 and 50 euros, you have to turn to certain sessions of football, rugby sevens, archery, canoeing, sailing, golf, wrestling, basketball or even of youaekwondo. The “real-time” purchase system results in categories or sports becoming unavailable at certain times, before reappearing. It is therefore necessary to optimize its purchase window by connecting regularly to the platform. The will to be able to live this popular festival is very present, but at what price?
While many of our favorite disciplines were no longer available, our hope now rests in the next phase of sales, where almost seven million tickets will go online again, in each sport. “with affordable prices”, assured Tony Estanguet, boss of Paris 2024 at the microphone of RTL, Wednesday February 22. Furthermore, only 80% of sessions were opened during this first phase. This still leaves a hope of accessing our dream sessions. Otherwise, you will have to turn to the only resale site, available at the end of the year and managed by Paris 2024, which will provide you with a new opportunity to buy tickets, at the purchase price.
