She likes to get lost in the cemeteries, says the musician and author. But one grave in particular appealed to her. Which?

Berlin – The musician and author Patti Smith likes to return to a special place when visiting Berlin. In an interview with the “Berliner Zeitung” she was asked whether she still visits Bertolt Brecht’s grave more often when she is in the city.

“Sometimes it is. I’ll visit his grave and thank him for his work,” said the 76-year-old. “Today, however, I went to a different cemetery, right across from the Soho House where I’m staying. I love walking through Berlin cemeteries and getting lost in them.”

When asked what fascinated her about the playwright Brecht, the American explained: “I’ve always loved his plays: “Baal”, “The Threepenny Opera”, “Mother Courage”. As a young woman, she also went to the theater herself worked, so she read a lot from him. “I like how he saw the world,” she told the newspaper (weekend edition). Smith is a musician (Because the Night) and author (Book of Days, Just Kids). dpa
