The director François Rollin, guest this Monday evening of BFMTV, tells the addiction of the comedian, and his fight to get out of it.

Pierre Palmade was seriously injured in a car accident on Friday, which also left three seriously injured, including a child and a pregnant woman who lost her baby. According to a police source, he tested positive for cocaine.

“This addiction, I saw it up close”, confides this Monday on BFMTV the director François Rollin. “I saw him struggle. I know how awful it is. The healthcare system doesn’t know how to deal with addictions.” And to add: “Pierre’s case is special.”

“Addiction is a disease”

The comedian has a long history with his cocaine addiction. He was convicted in 1995 of cocaine use. In 2019, he was taken into custody for “use and acquisition of narcotics”, after being falsely accused of rape by a sexual partner.

“He tried to treat himself,” assures François Rollin. “He tried very hard. But even with very good means, it’s not won.” “Addiction is a disease,” he added. Pierre Palmade never imagined hurting others because of his addictions:

“If he had imagined it, he would surely not have gotten into this car”, specifies François Rollin. “But cocaine gives you a feeling of hyperpower, which makes the danger seem to you for others.”

“I don’t have to defend Pierre”

Palmade has often declared that he wants to put an end to his addiction. “The first 15 times, I believed in it,” recalls François Rollin. “The next 15, I believed in it a little less. He knew that I believed in it less. He himself did not believe in it too.” “I saw him wanting to get out of it and he missed,” he adds.

“I do not have to defend Pierre. Pierre has committed a serious fault”, insists the director. “Justice will have to pass. It will pass. I trust the justice of this country to inflict the punishment it deserves, no more and no less.”

And to conclude, about the other seriously injured in the accident: “I am deeply affected by the horror of the irreparable catastrophe that is befalling this innocent family. I pray that these people be treated, compensated, accompanied as best as possible.”
