There are just a few days left until the Google I/O 2023 event and in addition to news related to Android 14 and the implementation of Bard artificial intelligence in more company applications, there are exciting debuts in the hardware and product segment, including the arrival of the first foldable smartphone from the company, the Pixel Fold, which can finally deliver a competitor to the height of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 outside of China.

Pixel Fold: Google’s first foldable phone

One of the new devices to be launched during the event will be Google’s first foldable smartphone. The Pixel Fold will bet on a format similar to that of the Galaxy Z Fold 4: containing a fixed external screen of 5.8 inches and a flexible internal display of 7.6 inches for when the user seeks to consume content in a larger area.

Both screens should offer OLED technology for deep blacks, high contrast and accurate color reproduction, as well as support for 120Hz refresh rate for smooth browsing at any time.

The device should inherit the Pixel 7 Pro camera settings, including three rear lenses with one of them in periscope format for high zoom zoom without loss of quality.

We also expect Google to bet on the Tensor G2 processor used in more recent Pixel smartphone models, as well as a more optimized version of Android 13 for folding screens, offering continuity features when changing screens.

We don’t know if the company will bet on differentials such as a firm hinge for different ways of using the device or the presence of an IP certification for protection against water and dust (something already present in all of Samsung’s Galaxy Z).

Pixel 7a: Google’s last mid-range phone

And while Google will launch its first foldable smartphone, the company is preparing for the launch of its possible last cell phone in the mid-range segment with the Pixel 7a.

Thanks to higher operating costs and few differences compared to the high-performance model, the company should end the manufacture of intermediaries next year and not bet on the Pixel 8a anymore, offering only a pair of premium smartphones and a folding model.

Anyway, the Pixel 7a is expected with the same Tensor G2 processor as the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, maintaining a compact 6.1-inch screen with Full HD resolution, OLED panel and now with a 90 Hz refresh rate for fluid navigation.

Its battery should offer a capacity of 4,400 mAh and fast charging of 20 W, now gaining support for wireless charging. The rear camera array is expected with a 64MP main sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 12MP sensor for the ultrawide lens.

Pixel Tablet: Google’s return to tablets

Google should also present its return to the segment of Android tablets with the Pixel Tablet, whose great differential will be the integration with the smart home and the use of a magnetic base for wireless charging with integrated speakers, transforming the equipment into a smart screen when not in use.

The Pixel Tablet should also adopt the Tensor G2 chip and will debut with Android 13 out of the box with an optimized experience and possible exclusive features so that consumers feel interested in purchasing the model.

The tablet will bet on an 11-inch screen with white and symmetrical edges, front camera positioned horizontally, only one rear camera without LED flash and plastic body to reduce manufacturing costs and make the product more durable.

Google is expected to bet on up to four color options for the device, with the sound base and wireless charging being able to share the same tone chosen by users.

Pixel Buds A-Series em new heart

Currently available in White, Black and Green, the Pixel Buds A-Series wireless headphones may receive a fourth color option during next Wednesday’s Google I/O.

According to leaks, the accessory will be released in color Sky Blue keeping the exterior of the charging case in white with the interior of the accessory and the individual parts of the earbuds in a light shade of blue.

We do not expect changes in the design or technical data of the device, betting on the same performance as the original Pixel Buds A-Series announced in June 2021 with a 12 mm driver, autonomy of 5 hours per headphone, up to 24 hours of use with a case of charging and IPX4 certified for water resistance.

Possible glimpse of Pixel 8 and 8 Pro

Finally, the company is expected to adopt the same strategy as the previous year and present a design glimpse of the high-performance duo that will be presented in the second quarter of the year, in addition to confirming the arrival of the Tensor G3 chip with greater performance and energy efficiency. .

The Pixel 8 and 8 Pro already had a design revealed in leaks with important changes compared to the Pixel 7 line, now adopting a single cutout to house the rear cameras and abandoning the curved glass on the sides for good for the more expensive model.

These should be Google’s main announcements in terms of hardware equipment, but other news are also expected for software, including the debut of Android 14 with still unknown news, bet on Artificial Intelligence in several company applications, changes and optimizations in Bard, new generation of Wear OS and much more.

See what to expect from Android 14 and what to expect from Google I/O in terms of software.
