LONDON.- Police in southwest England have found two suitcases containing suspected human remains after responding to reports of a man acting suspiciously on a bridge.
Police were called to Clifton Bridge in Bristol at around midday on Wednesday, about 10 minutes after the call. But the man, who had arrived in a taxi, had already left.
“This is an extremely disturbing incident and I fully recognise the shock it has caused in our communities,” said Police Chief Vicks Hayward-Melen. “Our immediate priority is to locate the man who took the suitcases onto the bridge, identify the deceased and notify their families.”
The taxi driver is cooperating with authorities. Police did not provide further details.
