In total, it is about 100 police officers on foreign duty in the country who will reinforce the police in Stockholm. The police do not want to say how many of them come from police area East, which includes Jönköping County and Östergötland.
– We take our share. In the first decision, it is about two weeks, but I think that period will be extended given the problems we currently have in Stockholm, says Carina Lennquist, deputy regional police chief in police area East.
Resource shortage
The first police officers from Jönköping County are already in Stockholm and in the near future there will be more.
– In the beginning it was easy to get people to stand up, but we know from experience that it will be more difficult going forward, says Carina Lennquist.
The Police Association’s regional press contact, Sara Wallters, highlights both positive and negative aspects.
– Of course there will be a lack of resources here in the region when we have to put out fires in other places. At the same time, I know that many police officers see it as a development opportunity to work with these more serious crimes in Stockholm, says Sara Wallters.
