The Potsdam police were alerted at the weekend because of two serious cases of arson and vandalism. A witness noticed around 5 a.m. on Saturday morning that a car was on fire in a freely accessible underground car park on Humboldtring in Zentrum-Ost. According to the police, unknown perpetrators smashed a window of the vehicle and set it on fire. The fire brigade was able to put out the flames and is now investigating.

Witnesses had already called the police at around 6:15 p.m. on Friday evening because around 30 young people are said to have stepped on a telephone column on Friedrich-Ebert-Strasse. According to the police, twelve suspects between the ages of 15 and 41 were caught on site. They were sent off or handed over to their legal representatives. There was no damage to the column. Now is determined because of breach of the peace.
