The Chamber of Deputies formalized today the call for next Thursday at 1:00 p.m. of the Impeachment Committee, so that it can be resolved whether to open the process against the members of the Supreme Court of Justice, promoted by President Alberto Fernández together with the governors of 11 provinces.

The commission chaired by pro-government deputy Carolina Gaillar and made up of 31 legislators will meet in Room 1 of Annex A to begin the first stage of the study, which will conclude with the presentation of the trial admissibility project, possibly in the first fortnight February. In the second stage, the collection of evidence is foreseen, to see if finally the deputies rule so that the project is in a position to be analyzed by the plenary.

In this scenario, the ruling party has the votes in the commission to start the process, but in principle it would not achieve the two-thirds necessary to advance in the compound with the accusatory opinion.

The issue was included in the call for extraordinary sessions, which will take place between next Monday, February 23 and 28, as well as the project on the composition of the Council of the Magistracy and the one that establishes the numerical expansion of the highest court, among others. so many projects.

The text to initiate the impeachment of the four members of the Supreme Court, based on the document promoted by President Alberto Fernández and governors, formally entered the Chamber of Deputies last Friday. The project includes the arguments of the prosecution and alternatives to advance the investigation, including several proposals for the summons of various witnesses.

The initiative, presented by the FdT deputy, Eduardo Valdés, together with other legislators from the ruling party, consists of 410 pages and proposes summoning the four ministers of the highest court, Horacio Rosatti, Carlos Rosenkrantz, Juan Carlos Maqueda and Ricardo Lorenzetti, so that they appear before the committee on Impeachment of the lower house that will carry out the investigation.

Together for Change, he announced that he will participate in the debate but will not give a quorum in the commission, insisting that it is “an attack on the Court and on the institutional framework” by the Government.

Meanwhile, yesterday the entry to the commission of Ricardo Herrera from La Rioja was made official as a replacement for Vanesa Massetani from Santa Fe, who gave up that place to her blockmate from the Frente de Todos for personal reasons.
