She has made herself quite rare in recent years, this petite woman with warm, friendly eyes. Actress Maria Simon (46) turned her life upside down, separated from many things that were no longer good for her.
It was tough, often courageous, but this new life suits her damn well. In the BILD am SONNTAG interview, she says: “The path to self-love is a blatant shitty path. But I’ve grown from every disaster I’ve experienced and every horror.”
In 2020 she left the “Polizeiruf”, the safe crime haven with a regular salary. She says: “I always had to work. That had less to do with a career than with making a living.” Simon has four children (11 to 25 years old). Nevertheless, she resigned.

Brave? “I think that was it, yes. But we live in a time when it is important that we are brave. We all need to get out of fear. And of course – at first I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to gain a foothold after the ‘police call’. But for me as an actress, as a person and also as a woman, the experience that I can be more than one color was very important.”
Simon was married to ex-“Tatort” commissioner Bernd Michael Lade (58) for 16 years. 2020 the divorce, which was preceded by a painful separation and followed by a long healing phase for heart and soul.
Simon: “I know now that I don’t need a man anymore. In the best case, we don’t need each other – we want each other.” She is currently single and lives with two of her children and many friends on a communal farm in the Uckermark.
But she is by no means idle! On the contrary! From Monday, Simon can be seen in a leading role in the ZDF three-part series “Yesterday we were still children” (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 8:15 p.m.). A story about a seemingly happy picture book family in Munich.

Speaking of gloomy: The maker of the series – producer and screenwriter Natalie Scharf (57, “Spring”) – knows this very well. She was born with curiosity about psychological abysses.
“My father was a psychiatrist and neurologist, so we grew up in the middle of the institution, so to speak,” she says to BILD am SONNTAG. “He wrote reports. And that’s why I got interested in the psyche early on and maybe also in evil.”
The answers to their questions were often hard on the soft hearts of children. Sharp: “I once asked my father as a child how and why you suddenly heard voices in your head. He replied: ‘You go to bed normally and then wake up like this the next morning.’ After that I didn’t want to sleep for days, I was so scared!”

In addition to “All-Star” Maria Simon, someone else stands out in this series: Julia Beautx (pronounced: Bjutix) as Simon’s daughter Vivian. The 23-year-old may not like the term YouTube star, but that’s exactly what she is – and has been for almost ten years!
Besides acting, Beautx shares beauty and lifestyle tips on her social media channels (2.41 million subscribers on Youtube, 3.8 million on Tiktok and 3.4 million on Instagram).
Not enough! From January 17, Beautx will also be dancing on the RTL show “Let’s Dance”.
