His manager Andreas Rosmiarek told RTL: “Despite his longstanding cancer – bone cancer – Matthias was always positive and full of creativity. He often hoped that he had finally beaten cancer, but there were always setbacks.”

Carras recently received further bad news after being diagnosed with bone cancer in 2020. “A few days before his death, Matthias received the diagnosis of leukemia from his doctors,” says Rosmiarek. “Three days after this diagnosis, Matthias Carras passed away peacefully in the presence of his wife Anne and their two daughters.”

He is proud that he was allowed to accompany Carras “a little bit on his life path”. Hardly anyone has “impressed him so much in recent years”. Above all, “his always positive attitude, his willpower, his artistic standards and his team spirit” were “a personal enrichment” for him.

Carras, whose real name was Matthias Thomas Bloche, released his first single in 1991. At that time he was still working in a fashion house and also DJed in discos. In 1998 he released the singles “I Can’t Get Enough of You” and “I’m Your Co-Pilot”. They brought him his breakthrough: he gave up his sales job – and put his full faith in music.

His debut album “Bitte unbuckle” was released shortly thereafter in 2000. From 2002 to 2004 Carras was also a TV presenter at 9Live, and later he also worked at Super RTL.

In 2015 he ended his music career again – partly because of depression. He then worked as a hairdresser in his Hessian homeland of Biedenkopf for a number of years. In April 2021 he made a comeback. In 2022 his ninth and last album “Endlich Frei” was finally released.

A musical monument is to be set for the singer on Friday. His label then wants to release the duet “Diesen Eine Moment”. Carras sang it together with his colleague Sandra Diano.

According to the record company, it was his express wish that the song be published.
