The Powerball jackpot was last won on January 1, 2024, with a ticket in Michigan valued at $842.4 million. Since then, there have been 39 drawings in a row without a jackpot winner. Wednesday’s drawing will be the 40th drawing in the jackpot race.

If a player wins the jackpot in Wednesday’s drawing, they will have the option to choose between an annualized prize worth an estimated $1.09 billion or a lump sum payout estimated at $527.3 million. Both prize options are before taxes. If the winner selects the annuity option, he or she will receive an immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that increase 5 percent each year.

Powerball tickets cost $2 per play and are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. More than half of all revenue from the sale of a Powerball ticket remains in the jurisdiction where the ticket was sold. Powerball drawings are broadcast live every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from the Florida Lottery drawing studio in Tallahassee, and on Powerball.com.

The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 24.9. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
