Premios Juventud gives me free rein to be a little more myself

MIAMI.- This is now six consecutive years in which Migbelis Castellanos says present in Youth AwardsAnd as the motto of this edition is “Dare to do more”, the Venezuelan presenter debuted as a panelist for a group of television personalities and experts in the digital field, in charge of nominating individuals in each of these award categories.

Regarding this responsibility and just a few minutes before the 21st edition takes place from the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot, DIARIO LAS AMRICAS shares a brief interview that Migbelis Castellanos offered exclusively days before the awards night. Some answers were edited for better understanding over time.

What did it mean to be part of the panel of nominators in the digital category for the first time?

I’m going to tell you about the burden I feel because it involves having to analyze and give your opinion about the work of others, which varies according to your perspective; however, I tried -at the time I was invited to be part of the panel- to take very seriously the role of investigating and looking at the accounts on this list of accounts that gave us access to remove the people that we considered -in our opinion- should be nominated.

I don’t know what the other panelists were basing their votes on, but I didn’t want to go by the number of followers, because we know that the number of followers doesn’t represent the quality of your content. So, I looked into what they were into, if it was comedy, if it was about social media, if it was about fashion; that is, depending on what it was, I tried to see behind that what the online content looked like, the videos, the lyrics, the editing, the screenshots, if there was a team behind it, if it was an individual work, if it was done for fun. So, based on that, I made my vote.

This year’s Premios Juventud motto is “Dare to do more”, what is your message for young people to dare to do more?

Honestly, I think that creating content and dedicating yourself to social media as a job is not for everyone. Although you can say that it is very easy to pick up the phone and make a video, it is not as easy as it seems because it requires many things and among them a good intention; that is, why are you doing it? Because no one prepares you to be famous, there are also many nice and not so nice things that come after that. Starting from that, the people who do work and dedicate themselves, I admire them because in a certain way they are also contributing something good.

I love entertainment, I have always thought that it is a way to escape from the problems and situations that each of us may have in life, that is why I think it is so nice that Premio Juventud is also giving this award and this mention to these content creators.

And for those who are not dedicated to this, but who enjoy social media, my biggest piece of advice is to know how to filter – not necessarily photos – what you consume because just as one takes into consideration what one is going to eat, what one is going to have for dinner in order to take care of one’s body, the most important thing is to take care of one’s mind and that is part of what you are consuming on social media as well.

What does Migbelis Castellano dare to do at Premios Juventud 2024?

My production team proposed me to do certain extreme tasks that I accepted. For example, in the Live streaming (live broadcast) of Premios Juventud can be seen not only on the day of the awards because we also wanted to have interviews with the artists during rehearsals, what was and is happening in production… I did this with my colleagues Candy Lover, Marko… so you have been able to see us daring to do more.

You have been working on these awards for six consecutive years. What does each edition mean?

What each award leaves me with is the preparation. Premios Juventud gives me free rein to be a little more myself, because it is fun, because it is the most important party. hot (hot) summer, because I feel like we are all young people… it leaves me with that: that if I am not prepared, nothing will turn out the way I expect.

Each project is like a step that I take towards where God wants to take me in this career. I enjoy it very much and I try to never lose the ability to enjoy the projects I am involved in, especially such big parties as Premios Juventud.

And as you said, it’s been six years working for these awards on different projects, making presentations, presenting an award or hosting; so more to come if you’re listening (laughs).
