Presenter Pat Sajak says goodbye to American TV

WASHINGTON.- Pat Sajak, el presenter of programs television with the longest service in history, said goodbye today -June 7- after successfully directing primetime United States with the Wheel of Fortune for 41 seasons.

“Well, it’s time to say goodbye,” he told viewers in a clip from the pre-recorded final show.

“It has been an incredible privilege to be invited into millions of homes night after night, year after year, decade after decade,” exclaimed Sajak. “Thank you for allowing me into your lives,” he noted.

Regular presenter since 1981

Pat Sajak has been a regular figure on American home screens since 1981, presenting more than 8,000 editions of a program that became an absolute success.

The 77-year-old Sajak was known for his low-key, unflappable style and on his half-hour show he asked contestants to choose a consonant letter or a vowel in the word guessing game.

The host described the program as a safe place for family fun, in which there were no social problems, no politics, or anything uncomfortable, just a game.

For the farewell, Sajak — dressed in a suit and sporting a uniform tan — chatted with guests and joked with co-host Vanna White, who joined the show in 1982, a year after Sajak.

In 2019, Guinness World Records awarded Sajak the title of longest career as a continuous host of a single game show.
