Boluarte defends democratic stability in Peru after the Castillo era

LIMA- The president of Peru, In Boluartefiled this Wednesday a jurisdictional lawsuit before the Constitutional Court against the judiciary and the prosecutor’s officewhom he accuses of an alleged “impairment in the exercise of their functions and powers.”

According to the resolution reported by the official newspaper El Peruano, Boluarte argues that there was a impairment of his powers due to alleged interference by these two institutions.

This decision by the Peruvian president comes in response to a new investigation announced by the prosecutor’s office regarding the “Rolexgate” case, which is investigating Boluarte for the alleged crime of illicit enrichment after the purchase of luxury watches.

Legal representation

The Peruvian president appointed the Prime Minister, Gustavo Adrianzén, to present the lawsuit and represent her during the process. Likewise, she ordered that the public attorney specialized in constitutional matters represent the Executive.

Boluarte is being investigated for an alleged crime of alleged illicit enrichment to the detriment of the State for the possession of several luxury watches that she wore in her interventions. The police and the prosecutor’s office searched the Government Palace and the president’s personal residence.

The watches and jewelry do not appear in the sworn statements and represent a significant unjustified increase in assets, according to the investigation, which is why the opposition led by the Peru Libre party, as well as other political groups, are trying to subject the president to a motion of censure due to moral incapacity.
