A few months before the coronation of the King of England, the first for 70 years, the Monegasque prince and his wife confirm their arrival.

King Charles III will be able to count on the presence of his Monegasque counterpart for his coronation. In an interview with the magazine PeoplePrince Albert of Monaco confirms that he will travel to London to attend the ceremony on May 6, accompanied by his wife Charlene.

“We will go, that’s for sure,” he told the American media. “You know, I don’t know how many coronations of an English monarch I will attend in my life, so we are going to enjoy this one.”

The last British coronation dates back to June 2, 1953. It was that of Queen Elizabeth II, who reigned for 70 years until her death on September 8 at the age of 96. At 74, his eldest son Charles took over the throne of England.

“I’m sure it will be an incredible ceremony, and it will be very moving,” Prince Albert continued. “We have maintained contact since Her Majesty became King, but I haven’t spoken to her directly since the Queen’s funeral on September 19.

He does not know, however, if the twins he had with Charlene of Monaco, Jacques and Gabriella (8 years old) will take part in the festivities: “I do not know if the other members of the family will be able to be welcomed. And I think that the children may be a bit young for this type of ceremony.”

Prince Charles’ coronation ceremony will take place at Westminster Abbey and will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, as it has been since 1066.
