The training ship Juan Sebastián Elcano, on which the Princess of Asturias will embark on a training cruise for midshipmen starting in January, has been docked in Marn for a few days before returning to Cadiz.

With this, the Royal Household will repeat the formula already used a year ago, when the heir to the throne accompanied Felipe VI in the delivery of dispatches at the Academy of Zaragoza weeks before beginning the first of her three years of military training there, since she is called to become captain general of the Armies when she is Queen.

The eldest daughter of the King and Queen received the rank of second lieutenant in the Army at the Academy in Zaragoza on July 3 after completing her training there. The monarch also presented her with the Grand Cross of Military Merit with a white insignia.

Specifically, according to sources from the Navy consulted by Europa Press, 111 new Navy officers will collect their offices. In addition, 76 first-year candidates are expected to swear allegiance. The event, which will be held to coincide with the Day of Carmen, the patron saint of the Spanish Navy, is also expected to be attended by the Minister of Defence, Margarita Robles.
