At the beginning of the afternoon this Saturday, Lindt France confirmed that a “very limited” fire had broken out the same morning “in a technical room for maintenance and spare parts”.

A building in the heart of one of the Lindt chocolate factories, located in Oloron-Sainte-Marie (Pyrénées-Atlantiques), caught fire this Saturday morning, report South West And France Blue. The fire, which reportedly started around 8 a.m., caused no casualties.

It burned “in a storage room of about 500 m2”, said the mayor of the city Bernard Uthurry. At the start of the afternoon, Lindt France confirmed that a “very limited” fire had broken out that same morning “in a technical room for maintenance and spare parts”. The company added that no production “was planned for this day on the site”.

An ongoing investigation

Forty firefighters were mobilized on the spot, making it possible to extinguish the fire at midday.

The origin of the fire is not yet known. An investigation is underway to determine the cause. Lindt must hold a crisis cell to decide if the weekend team can come to work as usual on Sunday.
