Quintana Roo closed the last week of April with an average hotel occupancy of 76.6% and an influx of 468,523 tourists, maintaining tourist destinations as preferred by national and international tourists, according to data from the state Tourism Secretariat (Sedetur).

As a result of the tourism model implemented by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, based on the New Agreement for the Well-being and Development of Quintana Roo, “it is sought that prosperity reaches all corners of the state.”

The Riviera Maya was the tourist pole with the highest hotel occupancy with 80%, followed by Costa Mujeres with 78.9%, Cancun with 77.6% and Tulum with 73.6 percent.

The airports of Chetumal, Cozumel and Cancun reported a significant number of arrivals and departures. Of the 2,017 arrivals, 1,269 were international and 748 national, while of the 1,996 departures, 748 were national and 1,248 international.

The Cancun International Airport was the one that registered the greatest activity, with 1,239 international arrivals and 716 nationals.

Most of the tourists came from Mexico and the United States, followed by Canada, France, the United Kingdom, Colombia, Argentina, Germany, Spain and Brazil, among other countries.

“The air connectivity of the Mexican Caribbean is extensive, with flights to and from the main countries of North America, Latin America and Europe, and services of 57 commercial airlines. Quintana Roo has connections with 23 Mexican cities, 40 in the United States and 20 in Canada, 21 in Central, the Caribbean and South America, and 20 in Europe,” emphasizes Sedetur.
