US President Joe Biden has confirmed his intention to run for a second term in 2024. He told the NBC broadcaster on Monday: “I intend to run for office (…) but we are not yet ready to announce this.” He did not elicit any further details.

The 80-year-old has indicated several times that he wants to rule for another four years. Since ex-President Donald Trump announced his candidacy, it has been almost certain that Biden will also campaign again. Biden believes he has the best chance of beating the Republican again.

Last week, criminal proceedings were opened against Trump, the first president in American history. That will also play a role in Biden’s plans.

It is now said that the President will not comment in April as expected, but rather in the direction of summer. It can be heard that Biden is in no hurry and does not want to let himself drift.

In his party, it is considered agreed that the 80-year-old will be supported despite his old age if he starts again. So far, only anti-vaccine Robert F. Kennedy and author Marianne Williamson have announced their candidacy. Both are considered to have no chance.

However, the euphoria about Biden’s renewed candidacy is also manageable among democratic voters: a majority of them are one Poll by the AP news agency think one term would be enough. According to this, only 37 percent of Democrats want another four years of Biden.
