That was precisely the recurring theme at the press conference. The winner of 22 Grand Slams was consulted about a possible withdrawal from sports activity, a question that seemed to bother him.
“I don’t need to keep playing tennis for any reason. What drives me to continue is my passion for this sport; When I lose it, I’ll drop it and you’ll be the first to know.”he pointed.
Rafael Nadal was upset by the constant questions about his retirement from tennis and asked the press not to continue questioning him on this issue since he still does not think about hanging up the racket.
“Lately, every time I come to a press conference it seems that I have to retire, it’s as if they were very interested in that happening. Don’t go through with it because I’m here to play tennis and the time to retire has not yet arrived”he expressed.
Rafael Nadal is preparing for the Australian Open, a tournament that will take place in January and where he will arrive as defending champion, after winning the 2022 edition. The Spaniard was close to the Wimbledon final, however, he had to withdraw from the tournament for an injury.
