The Ministry of Commerce published on its Facebook page the results of the activity of economic control and repression of fraud carried out during the month of Ramadan 2023. The Ministry’s control services carried out 196 447 interventions during the month, giving rise to the allocation of 35,004 offenses and the issuance of 34,061 official acts of judicial follow-up.

The violations examined were divided into two areas of intervention: quality control and fraud prevention or services recorded 89,901 interventions. Non-compliance with cleanliness and hygiene obligations, possession and sale of materials unfit for consumption are the main points noted after inspection.

The second area concerns control of business practices (with 106,546 interventions). The violations recorded are mainly the lack of information on prices and tariffs, non-invoicing, failure to register in the commercial register, opposition to censorship and failure to modify the data of the extract from the register of the trade.

The services also seized goods worth 16.06 million Days and proposed the closure of 1,509 commercial stores. In addition, they detected a total amount of non-invoicing estimated at 6.9 billion Da.

Permanence of traders during Eid, the report:

Shops and other businesses have resumed their activities after a 2-day break on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr. However, to ensure the availability of basic necessities, some had to comply with a permanence program imposed by the Ministry of Trade and Exports.

According to the latest reports, the majority of traders have complied with this reform. Although the ministry has announced a high rate of participation in the permanence of Eid, consumer protection associations have conducted their own survey of the population.

Indeed, APOCE conducted surveys among Algerian citizens during the two days of Eid. The verdict is clear: a large part of those questioned complained of the total closure of businesses in their neighborhoods.
