For Nasri, France is a “secular country”. And that “Religion must remain in the private sphere”. He added.
The former OM and Manchester City midfielder didn’t stop there. He adds: “Does the trainer go to see the Catholics and ask them if they are doing Lent? Why did this issue of Ramadan not arise 20 years ago? This question should not exist. You know it’s the Ramadan period, you know which players on your team are Muslims. You watch the matches, if the player is less efficient, you take him out, that’s all. Why are you going to ask him if he is doing Ramadan? Because it is Ramadan, are you going to look at it with a different eye? It must not exist to ask his players not to fast.
“Benzema is the best when he is under Ramadan”
Samir Nasri gives a good example of the player who fasts on match day but delivers a good performance. It is, in fact, his ex-teammate in the France team Karim Benzema.
