The International Living publication, dedicated to the lifestyle of global citizens and people retired from working life, released its ranking of the best countries to retire.

For the elaboration of the Global Retirement Index of this publication, factors such as climate, cost of living, housing and the health system, among other factors, were taken into account.

But the publication clarifies that it is not a scientific study or results made from big data, etc. It is simply carried out by people who have been dedicated to evaluating the best places to retire for three decades, based on the opinions that the community itself formed around the magazine communicates to them.

The best countries to retire

For International Living, Portugal is today the country with the best conditions to enjoy retirementwith 87.4 points out of 100 possible.

With a score of 84.1, Mexico is currently the second country that meets the best conditions for workers to retire, followed by Panama (84), Ecuador (83.57), Costa Rica (79.28) and Spain (78.14).

They complete the top 10, Greece (76.86), France (75.43), Italy (73.57) and Thailand (73.57).

Out of the first 10 positions, a Latin American country appears again, Colombia (73.43)followed by none other than Uruguay (70.86).

And beyond those first positions, the specialized publication also highlighted Malta (70.14), Ireland (70), Roatan (Honduras) (63.42)) and Belize (59.86)

It is worth clarifying that, in terms of cost of living, Mexico and Thailand obtained the best scores in the ranking. But in climate and health care, Portugal beat all the other nations tested.
