The North American Mandy Bardisbanian, 33 years old, has drawn the attention of internet users for having a rare syndrome that produces a very unusual symptom. Whenever she eats something, her left eyelid moves involuntarily.

The condition is called Marcus Gunn syndrome, after the Scottish ophthalmologist Robert Marcus Gunn, who was responsible for first describing it in 1883. The genetic disease that causes the muscles and nerves of the eyelids to attach to the jaw.

In a social network, Mandy says that the syndrome used to cause her insecurities and that she suffered from low self-esteem and bullying. She even became emo at one point in her life just so she could cover her eyes with her hair. However, she says that today the involuntary blinks no longer bother her.
