The new Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra looks like a good alternative to boxes for streaming in high quality without breaking the bank.

Is your boss or your audience teasing you because of the poor quality of your webcam? Can’t stand the soup of pixels that is supposed to represent your face during Zoom meetings? Never mind: Razer has you covered with its all-new webcam.

This is the Kiyo Pro Ultra, a more evolved version of the current Kiyo Pro. With this product, Razer promises “a level of detail and clarity equivalent to that of a DSLR”. If the comparison will probably startle the owners of beautiful cases, it must be admitted that the technical sheet is impressive for a webcam.

4K and lots of options

If the brand dares to compare it to a specialized camera, it is above all because of its Starvis 2 sensor built by Sony. According to Razer, it’s quite simply the largest sensor ever integrated into a consumer webcam. It allows you to capture images in 4K at 24 frames per second, in 1440P at 30 fps with HDR support, or in 1080p at 60 fps.

The Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra boasts the largest sensor among webcams at the moment.

And that’s not all: it also has a lens with an aperture of F/1.7. It should therefore offer quite decent performance in anything but ideal lighting conditions, as well as an interesting depth of field synonymous with nice bokeh. It is possible to manually adjust exposure and shutter speed. The six-blade diaphragm can also be closed to preserve subject privacy.

On the software side, it will be equipped with an AI-based tracking system. This will maintain a sharp image as the user moves; always useful for those who tend to be on the move behind their screen.

It also includes a transcoder that allows the raw stream to be converted directly into another format, for example from 4K 30 fps to 4K 24 fps, all in real time. A good point for compatibility with certain streaming or editing software, depending on the targeted media.

The ideal intermediary for streamers?

Even if we are still far from a real DSLR, it is therefore a rather interesting product for the target audience, namely streamers.

To offer a quality image to their audience, they often choose to mount a professional camera on an articulated arm. It is cumbersome, very expensive and not necessarily easy to operate. This “plug-and-play” webcam offered at 349,99€ remains expensive, but it could therefore be a very interesting alternative for those who do not have the space or the budget for a professional level setup.

The Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra is available today exclusively on the Razer website.
