Razer presented its new webcam called Kiyo Pro Ultra at CES 2023 in Las Vegas. It has a special feature: According to the manufacturer, it uses the largest sensor of all time in a webcam. In the end, this should enable quality on a DSLR level, if you want to believe Razer. Accordingly, this accessory should not only be suitable for live streamers, but also for the home office.

At the heart of Razer’s advertised “professional” webcam is a large Sony 1/1.2-inch Starvis 2 sensor with a pixel size of 2.9um to capture more light and image data in each pixel for increased detail and capture true-to-nature colors. In order to use the full potential of the sensor, the Kiyo Pro Ultra is equipped with a bright F/1.7 aperture. It should therefore capture almost four times more light compared to other webcams. Even in low ambient light, Razer promises you clear recordings.

As for resolutions and frame rates, the maximum possible is raw 4K at 30 fps, or alternatively raw 1080p at 60 fps. According to Razer, this can then be converted into uncompressed 4K at 24 fps, 1440p at 30 fps or 1080p at 60 fps for live streams, for example. On board is an algorithm-supported face tracking autofocus, which always keeps the user’s face in focus, while the background can be blurred thanks to the real bokeh effect. You do not need any additional hardware or software for this.

Coupled with HDR support at 30 fps, creators can benefit from increased dynamic range. According to Razer, the Kiyo Pro Ultra automatically optimizes the lighting and contrast here. At the same time, over- or underexposed areas are corrected in order to suitably exploit both dark and light areas. Razer Synapse allows creators to further tweak the quality of their content with a wide range of customizable settings such as ISO, shutter speed, pan, tilt and more. In addition, the Kiyo Pro Ultra is connected and ready to use within minutes via a USB 3.0 connection.

More information on the Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra is available on the product page to find. It is available now exclusively on Razer.com and RazerStores for a MSRP of €349.99.
