In the case of Rebecca Reusch’s disappearance, the police apparently searched the brother-in-law’s house again. He remains the prime suspect.
In the case of Rebecca Reusch, who has been missing for four years, there is a new development. According to the television broadcaster RTL, the police searched the house of the 15-year-old’s brother-in-law. The investigators focused on the relative early on. It is the building where the then 15-year-old stayed before she disappeared.
The spokesman for the Berlin public prosecutor’s office, Sebastian Büchner, told RTL that there had been a search of “the accused, against whom investigations are still ongoing”. He did not reveal any further details, especially what the officials were looking for.
A found bathrobe is said to be of interest
According to RTL research, acoustic measurements are said to have been carried out in the house – probably with the aim of finding out which noises can escape to the outside. A bathrobe was also found that was apparently missing a belt. This could be the focus of new investigations – as a possible murder weapon.
Schwager was arrested twice
Rebecca Reusch disappeared on February 18, 2019. She had spent the night at her sister and brother-in-law’s house and has not been seen since. The brother-in-law quickly became a suspect, but evidently there is no evidence. He was arrested twice, but was always released. “We cannot and do not want to discuss all the suspicious facts about the brother-in-law in public,” senior public prosecutor Martin Steltner said two years ago. “It’s also unfair to him. He’s suspected, but he’s not convicted.”
The suspect told police after the girl’s disappearance that she left the house that morning. But investigators found no evidence of this. The brother-in-law’s car was recorded a little later by a traffic camera on the motorway towards Poland. But a search operation and a call on the television program Aktenzeichen XY – unsolved did not bring any further results. The Berliner has disappeared to this day.
