Do you remember when you played half life 2 from Valve and you came across the burned corpse in the sewers and other parts of the game? It seems that this texture it was a real death.

As fans well remember, this was the sequel to the first game from the American company, a complete success for critics and the video game industry. However, the website of gizmodo notes in a report that, during its development, Valve removed different versions and tried to reduce the dark and harsh tone for the final release in 2004.

Some of that obscure stuff was left in the final version, including the model Corpse01.mdlwhich is precisely this corpse that it’s really a corpse and not an illustrated texture.

on the subreddit r/eyeblech, an Internet user published images of corpses that, according to what they explained, belonged to a manual of forensic medicine. In the comments of the posta user pointed out that one of the images showing a burned corpse looked identical to the Corpse01 model that was in Half-Life 2.

Users confirmed that it was Hal-Life 2

Reddit users compared the images to the in-game textures and everything matched up. They were identical, except that Valve duplicated the right eye of the corpse, going viral on social networks and confirming that it was a real dead man.

The youtuber Richter Overtime uploaded a video in which he detailed the history of the corpse and its connection with the image of Hal-Life 2. This revelation surprised the players, who never imagined that they had a real body in front of their screens, which led to to a modder to share on Steam a new model to replace the old one.

Valve did not comment on it, but it is likely that after this has gone viral it will decide to update the video game model
