Arkane’s anti-vampire shooter red case won’t be out until next week, but the launch trailer was released yesterday, which shows plenty of action in a vampire-infested town and includes a clever easter egg that fans of old immersive sim games are sure to celebrate. But before we take a closer look at the trailer, let’s review the official PC system requirements. The good news is that it won’t put too much strain on your PCs, although the 100GB storage requirement hurts, especially if you’re still using a smaller SSD.

What information is missing?

What is odd is that there is no indication of what performance players can expect at each skill level. The lack of this information is particularly striking given the recent revelation that the Xbox version of red case will be capped at 30 FPS. It’s also worth noting that the specs for Arkane’s previous game deathloop Resolution and frame rate specs included, acknowledging their absence from the specs red case (buy now / €62.99 ) makes it even weirder.

Your PC must be able to do this for Redfall:

Minimum requirements:

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-8400 @ 2.80GHz or AMD Ryzen 5 1600
  • GPU: AMD RX 580 / Nvidia GTX 1070 / 6GB VRAM
  • RAM: 16GB
  • Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit
  • Storage space: 100GB SSD

Recommended requirements:

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-9700K @ 3.60GHz or AMD Ryzen 7 2700X
  • GPU: AMD 5700 / Nvidia RTX 2080 / Intel ARC / 8GB VRAM
  • RAM: 16GB
  • Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit
  • Storage space: 100GB SSD

Ultra Requirements:

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-9700K @ 3.60GHz or AMD Ryzen 7 2700X
  • GPU: AMD RX 6800 XT / Nvidia RTX 3080 / 10GB VRAM
  • RAM: 32GB
  • Operating system: Windows 11 64-bit
  • Storage space: 100GB SSD

Easter egg in the launch trailer

No matter what you from the trailer to red case hold – the easter egg is clever, if not surprising. At 23 seconds into the video, a “Welcome to Redfall” card pops up with a notice about some sort of rally at the local fire station. The time of the rally should catch the eye of many players: it should take place at 04:51.

The number 0451 is a very well known motif in the immersive sim genre and used as a password or code in games dating back to the original System Shock and running through Deus Ex, BioShock, Dishonored and many other games. It’s almost become a tradition over the years to include the combo somewhere: Deathloop has a 0451 Easter egg and achievement, Weird West uses it to open a safe, and Atomic Heart alludes to it early in the game. Are you in the mood for Redfall, or are you rather skeptical?
