Drivers have to dig deeper into their pockets when refueling than in the previous week. As the current ADAC evaluation of fuel prices in Germany shows, petrol in particular has become significantly more expensive. According to this, a liter of Super E10 costs 1.779 euros on average nationwide, which is 4.2 cents more than a week ago. Diesel is also more expensive: one liter currently costs 1.858 euros, which is 2.9 cents more than a week ago.

The ADAC believes that the fuel prices are significantly inflated. The price of a barrel of Brent crude oil is at a similar level as in the previous week, and the euro has strengthened against the US dollar again. A month ago, when the price of oil was similarly high, Super E10 cost about ten cents less than it does now, and diesel about six cents.

The price difference between diesel and Super E10 has melted and is currently 7.9 cents. However, normalization is not yet in sight. As a reminder: A liter of diesel is taxed more than 20 cents less than petrol, but diesel still costs significantly more.

ADAC recommends refueling in the evening if possible. Fuel prices are particularly low between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Experience has shown that prices are highest in the morning, when you pay an average of around 12 cents more than in the evening.

Drivers can get quick and practical help with the “ADAC Fuel Prices” smartphone app, which provides the prices of almost all of the more than 14,000 petrol stations in Germany. Detailed information on the fuel market and current prices can also be found at www.adac.de/tanken.
