Dornbirn. The NLA away game in Biasca ended in another disappointment. The Messestadt-based team lost 4-2 in Ticino and still keep the playoffs a long way off.
Brunner & Co got off to a better start and took a 1-0 lead after a counterattack, which Hagspiel unsustainably sunk under the crossbar with a long-range shot. Only 29 seconds later, however, came the equalizer and later Ruggiero doubled through a questionable penalty for the first lead. Shortly before the break, Jochum also saw the blue card.
After the restart, the people of Messestadt had more possession and pressed for the equaliser. But in the middle of this urge phase, Hagspiel, who was actually fouled by the goalkeeper, received a two-minute penalty, which the Biaschesi used on the power play to lead 3:1. In the 35th minute, Gomez del Torno escaped on the counterattack and successfully completed a backhand shot from the corner of the box to make it 3-2. The coachless team from Messestadt was no longer able to take control of the game, repeatedly struggled with wrong decisions by the referees and had to accept the fourth goal due to a defensive mistake. The final offensive remained unrewarded once again, although it would not have been due to the chances we had created. The game finally ended 4:2 for the hosts.
So the Dornbirners are doomed to win in the last three games if they still want to use the spark of a chance to get into the playoffs. The task doesn’t get any easier, because in addition to the injured Sahler, coaches Dolce and Mostögl were red-banned.
