RotorX, a company specializing in rotary wing aircraft based in the state of Arizona / USA, announced the launch of the Dragon electric flying car for 2023. This model has the differential of being designed for only one person and not requiring pilot licenses to be driven.

According to the manufacturer, the Dragon can fly at a maximum speed of 100 km/h, with a maximum height of 30 meters. Autonomy is 20 minutes, thanks to the lithium batteries attached to each of the eight 16 kW electric motors. The biggest “restriction”, so to speak, is the passenger’s weight, limited to 113kg.

The flying car dispenses licenses precisely because of its operational limitations and its size considered ultralight by the FAA, the aviation regulatory body in the United States — in addition to the technology shipped for use. Its safety systems include, for example, an automatic sensor landing feature and a ballistic parachute that can deploy at any time.

To control the Dragon, the pilot will have an easy-to-handle three-axis joystick at his disposal, as in other light aircraft. As it is an eVTOL, its takeoff is vertical.

to assemble at home

One of the most unusual things about the RotorX Dragon is that it will be sold in a kit for you to assemble in your home. The company says it’s very easy to build, as its body is lightweight space aluminum. However, if the customer wishes, he can take the product to the manufacturer’s headquarters, which will provide all the support.

In addition, RotorX is committed to offering training to customers for a quick adaptation to the flying car.

RotorX Dragon: Pricing and Availability

The RotorX Dragon hits the market in September 2023 for US$ 99,000 or R$ 523,000 at current prices. The pre-sale price for the first 100 units, however, is US$ 85,000 or R$ 447,814.
