the experts Yanina Cuenca, Augustine Matticoli, Ricardo Gabriel Pisoli Y Andres Bruzzese who analyzed the videos of the tragic early morning of January 18, 2020, in which Fernando Baez Sosa was attacked and beaten to death at the door of the Le Brique bowling alley in Villa Gesell, they identified seven of the eight rugby players accused of the savage beating and motivated the first reaction of one of the accused since the hearings began in the Dolores courts. Luciano Pertossi interrupted the experts, asked to testify and replied: “I was not there,” he said in reference to the images that were analyzed in detail this morning.
Pertossi’s reaction is the first statement by one of the eight accused since the pact of silence that they themselves agreed to the early morning that everything happened. Although the young man tried to get away from the scene of the event, which was recorded by the attackers themselves and various witnesses at the scene, he refused to answer the prosecutor’s inquiries: “Do not force yourself to ask any questions because I am not going to answer”he snapped at them.
The 21-year-old is the first of the defendants to make a statement from the moment they were arrested. He and six others involved were listed in one of the videos analyzed by the experts, in which you can see how they beat the victim already on the floor. The defendant, however, denied having been in that place and distanced himself from the rest of his friends.
The answer came after the expert Agustina Matticolli cornered the defendants even more. As indicated by the expert with her name and surname, the camera in the kitchen of the bowling alley yielded the most accurate data for the facial comparison and the clothes of the accused, which allowed them to be located later at the scene of the attack. There the specialist located Matias Benicelli, maximum thomsen, Enzo Comelli, Blas Cinalli, Cyrus Pertossi, Lucas Pertosi, Ayrton Viollaz, Alejo Milanesi (dismissed), Thomas Collazo (who was never charged in the case) already Luciano Pertosialthough he did not establish the roles of each of those named.
“I want to clarify something, shall I? I wasn’t there”, assured Pertossi when the experts pointed to him in one of the images and then had a nervous exchange with the prosecutors who quickly asked him where he was. “I’m not going to answer you,” he replied and evaded the question visibly nervous: “I’m not going to answer you. I don’t want to answer any other question, don’t make an effort because I’m not going to answer anything else.”
The trial began on January 2 of this year with the eight rugby players accused of Fernando’s crime in the defendant’s dock. During at least 21 hearings, in which more than 150 witnesses will parade, an effort will be made to determine the criminal responsibility of maximum thomsen (23), Enzo Comelli (22), Matias Benicelli (23), Blas Cinalli (twenty-one), Ayrton Violaz (23) and Luciano (21), Cyrus (22) and Lucas Pertosi (23), accused of the crime of “aggravated homicide due to treachery and the premeditated cooperation of two or more people.”
