Russia launches multiple attack against Ukraine; at least six dead

kyiv. Russia launched a multiple attack against Ukraine last night with 70 air assault weapons, including cruise and hypersonic missiles, as well as Iranian-made drones, killing at least six people. This came a day after Ukrainian drones damaged a Russian tanker, the kyiv air force reported.

Two of the six reported deaths occurred during a Russian airstrike in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region, according to the head of the local regional military administration, Oleh Syniehubov, without giving details of the remaining four deaths. In addition, he noticed four wounded.

The Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense assured that yesterday it destroyed 30 of the 40 cruise missiles and 27 drones shahed that Russia launched during the night, without clarifying what happened to the 10 remaining projectiles.

The Ukrainian president, Volodymir Zelensky, accused Russia of committing a “war crime” because, he said, there were deaths and injuries in an attack carried out the day before yesterday against a blood transfusion center in the city of Kupiansk, less than 16 kilometers from the front in the eastern Kharkiv region. “Defeating the terrorists is a matter of honor for all who value life,” he said.

The Russian retaliation occurred after Ukraine attacked a Russian oil tanker in the Black Sea near Crimea with drones the day before.

In turn, the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, condemned the attack: “there can be no justification for such barbaric actions, they will not go unanswered; and its authors and perpetrators will inevitably be punished.”

In turn, the deputy governor of the Khmelnytskyi region in western Ukraine, Serhiy Tiurin, announced that a military airfield in the town of Starokostiantyniv was among the Russian targets, adding that yesterday’s attack damaged houses, a cultural center, a bus station and a silo, in which a worker was injured.

Meanwhile, Moscow’s Vnukovo airport, the second largest in the Russian capital, briefly suspended flights early yesterday after a foiled attack by a Ukrainian drone.

The device was destroyed by anti-aircraft defenses in the Podolsk region, in the suburbs of Moscow, detailed the Russian Defense.

Flights had already been suspended at that airport on July 30, when two drones crashed in Moscow’s financial district after being intercepted by Russian anti-aircraft defenses.
