Mexico City.- With one day left to finish the Clausura 2023, Santos announced the dismissal of Eduardo Fentanes as the team’s coach.

After losing at home to Querétaro (2-0) and achieving only 5 victories in the semester, the Laguna board of directors made the decision to fire the Mexican strategist.

“We inform you that, after the meeting of the Club’s Sports Committee, the termination of the contractual relationship with Eduardo Fentanes and his Technical Staff at the head of the first team was decided,” the Santista institution wrote in a statement on its social networks.

The DT took the reins of the Guerreros first team during the Clausura 2022, replacing the Portuguese Pedro Caixinha, and only two tournaments later he had to say goodbye to the position due to the poor results in the current tournament.

Santos is located in the 11th position of the general table, still in the playoff zone, but they would be in danger of being eliminated if they lost the following Saturday against Cruz Azul, in a duel in which they would have Carlos Arturo Cruz as interim coach.
