Saudi Arabia will host a new round of talks to achieve "a just peace" in Ukraine

The talks, promoted by Ukraine, will have the participation of 30 countries, but not Russia

Ukraine tries to open a new window for a negotiated exit to the war with Russia that allows to establish a “just peace” based on the ten-point proposal put forward by the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky in the G20.

To achieve the goal, the Ukrainian government will begin a round of talks in August with Saudi Arabia with the participation of 30 different countries, including india and brazil.

According to the newspaper The Wall Street Journal, the talks will take place on August 5 and 6 in the city of Jeddah. In the meeting, however, Russia will not participate.

The initiative is part of the Global Summit for Peacean initiative of President Zelenski through which he intends to achieve new support for his peace plan.

The meeting in Saudi Arabia is part of the preparations for said Global Summit for Peacewhich is expected to take place at the end of 2023.

The objective of the Ukrainian government is that a document with a series of common principles to end the war that will serve as the basis for some negotiations between kyiv and Moscow favorable to Ukraine.

For his part, the Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry PeskovHe assured that Russia “will closely follow that meeting” in Saudi Arabia, but he was skeptical about its results.

“He kyiv regime does not want and cannot see peace while being used exclusively as a war tool of the collective West against Russia,” he said.
