In Savoie, the interdepartmental mosquito control agreement (EID) coordinates the fight against the tiger mosquito. It seeks to limit its spread, in particular because it can transmit diseases such as dengue fever or chikungunya. “Tomorrow, like last year in the south of France, there could be autochthonous cases. The greater the colonization of the tiger mosquito, the greater this risk”, says Rémi Froussadier, director of the EID. For the moment, 79 municipalities in Savoie are colonized by the insect. In a few years, the whole department should be affected.
